What’s The Key To Our Success?

Most of us desire success. We often dream of our own success when we read about others’ success because we want to be successful too.

However, success can mean many things. Money and possessions can make someone feel successful while developing useful skills and making progress in any area in life might make someone else feel successful.

Success means something different to everyone, so there’s no real recipe that’s a one-size-fits-all.  However, there are some key ingredients that everyone can use on their path to success.

If you think about the term success, we could say the sum of the definition, in short, might be, the feeling of accomplishment, achievement, and gaining positive results.

So, what’s the key to our success? Here are some of the ingredients that we think are the key to our achievements and what keeps us moving forward to our vision of success.

A clear goal & BHAG

What exactly is it you want?  What’s your Big Hairy Audacious Goal? If you’re unsure, here’s where you need to take the time to really think about it! Sit down, go to a peaceful place, and envision what this might look like. If you’re not clear on exactly what you want, you may not take the right steps or action to take you in the right direction to meet your goals.

When your goal is solid, you’ll have a clear path of steps you need to take to get to that goal.

Evaluate Your Goal

Take the time to research your goal. How long will it take you to achieve that goal? What steaks are on the line to achieve that goal? Is there a financial barrier? This will help you realize if you really desire this goal.  Sometimes when we understand what it takes to reach certain goals, we’re not so interested that we actually want it, and that’s okay!  Because, when you truly and deeply desire something, the path to get it, no matter how rugged will be 100 percent worth it to accomplish that goal.

Be Patient

If everything came to us overnight, well, we’d all be pretty bored and boring. If we all wished we could produce music as great as “The King”, we’d all be “Kings” and nothing would have been special about Elvis. It takes time to become a successful CEO, or to learn a new language, or become an amazing artist. And, if we all got what we wanted on a whim, we’d all be the same and boring.

Success requires patience. You might meet some obstacles along the way, you might get delayed and fail. However, if you continue your desire and drive, and remain patient despite the roadblocks in your way, you’ll be that much stronger in the end when you reach that goal.

Be Insanely Persistent

Persistence and patience are like peanut butter and jelly. You can’t have one without the other. Most successful people did not get to where they are without persistence.

If we’re all a bit more persistent, we’d achieve exactly what we set out to do.

Jack and his co-author Mark Victor Hansen, the writers for Chicken Soup for the Soul, pitched the original to over 130 different publishers. However, none of them were interested. After several of these pitches, their agent also dropped them.

Luckily, they were persistent and continued to preserver until their book was found by a small publisher located in Florida.

Now, there are over 250 different Chicken Soup for the Soul books and well over 500 million copies sold worldwide.

Mindset Motivation

Motivation fuels the ambition and desire to reach your success. Write down the importance of your goal and why you want to reach it, what are its benefits? Post those reasons around your office, on your bathroom mirror, on the ceiling above your bed. This can keep your motivation fueling and remain a constant reminder through some of your trials.

Remind yourself through affirmations that are meaningful to you.

Have Confidence and Faith in You!

Do you truly believe in yourself? Are you confident? These are also key ingredients that will help you take action and take risks. Get out of your comfort zone and have faith that your persistence and motivation will carry you to that finish line.

You can always start with some small goals.  Use the ingredients we’ve used, and use some of your own.  Implement them in your life and see where it takes you.  You’ll never regret accomplishment after hard work.
